Marlos Moreno looks set to become Manchester City’s fifth summer signing but Pep Guardiola is unlikely to stop there.
Moreno, 19, follows fellow teenager Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival at the Etihad after Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy moved from Melbourne City.
Mooy, however, has already joined Huddersfield on loan and the two 19-year-olds might take time to bed in. Ilkay Gundogan (when fit) and Nolito are the two senior additions and City fans will be hoping Guardiola continues to reinforce his first-team squad.
Martin Demichelis and Seko Fofana have been the only high-profile departures so far and there are plenty of players whose futures at the Etihad were plunged into doubt after Manuel Pellegrini’s underwhelming final campaign. Guardiola has played down the prospect of a fire sale by even indicating he would like to keep the cumbersome Yaya Toure for one more season.
