One thing that Alexis Sanchez fears is that Arsenal are set to compel him to honour the past 1 year of his contract in order to retain him at the club. This is according to The Telegraph.
There is one year left on the 28-year-old player’s contract and the insistence of Arsenal that the Chilean forward will not be sold means that for him to move on a free transfer, he will be forced to wait till next summer.
His demand for wages of up to £350,000-a-week has put off several clubs including Bayern Munich. This has actually left Manchester City – Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, as the ones to beat in order to sign him.
Also, according to The Telegraph, Chelsea have expressed great interest in Sanchez. However, they have been informed that there is no way Arsenal will sell to a Premier League competitor. This means that there is the possibility of the player threatening to quit Arsenal – and for nothing – next summer.
Earlier on Friday, the Chilean announced that he had made a decision about his future – a decision that he will not disclose but keep everybody guessing till the Confederations Cup is over.
