Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain is set to step up his efforts to sign Leroy Sane and John Stones.

Boss Pep Guardiola confirmed the club’s interest in the pair after Thursday’s win over Dortmund on penalties in Shenhzen.

They are the club’s top targets – and with just two weeks before the new season starts, Begiristain needs to get them in as soon as possible.

We’ll follow those moves every step of the way and bring you updates as and when we get them.

Guardiola will also be desperate to get to work with the players on training ground with just two friendlies left before the big kick-off.

The club have arranged an extra match at the CFA before the clash with Arsenal in Gothenburg.

According to the South Wales Evening Post, Everton are lining up a move for Swansea defender Ashley Williams – a deal that would pave the way for John Stones to sign for City.

The 31-year-old impressed for Wales at the Euros this summer and has been a beacon of consistency for Swansea over recent seasons.

If Everton get him, they are likely to be more willing to let Stones join City.

There’s deadlock between the two clubs regarding Stones’ fee, with City refusing to match the £50 million asking price Everton have set for the 21-year-old.
