The CIty boss has revealed why Samir Nasri was excluded from his Champions League squad list when it was resubmitted back in February.

The Frenchman was out with a nasty thigh injury at the time and wasn’t expected to return until the final few weeks of the campaign.

And with Wilfried Bony also out when the squad was confirmed, it left Pellegrini with just Sergio Aguero to lead the line and the decision was taken to bring Kelechi Iheanacho into the reckoning.

Asked if he regretted the decision given Nasri’s man-of-the-match display against West Brom at the weekend, Pellegrini said: “No because in the moment that we had to take the decision it was the logical decision.
