Advantage CITY! I was so nervous leading into the game – I absolutely hate Derby’s I would have taken a draw to the 90 minutes over and done with.
But its 1-0 to Pep verses Mourinho in there Manchester rivalry. Obviously they know each other well and have been at the same clubs together but I get the feeling they are mates and the media in blowing the “feud” massively out of proportion to oblivious get more attention to the games and it was certainly built up.
City were brilliant in the first 40 minutes – absolutely class. Best I have seen in years. I think the line up pep put out was in my opinion the most attacking line up I have ever seen for a Manchester Derby.

Claudio Bravo had an interesting start to his City career to say the least – he could have given away 2 penalties and also got a red card for the tackle on Rooney. Giving the goal away before the stroke of half time made my heart sink – like when we were 2-0 up against them a few years back and went on to lose 3-2.

I was absolutely convinced he would make a mistake today with all the hype around Joe harts move to Torino. But let’s face facts he has hardly had time to train with the defence and get to know them and what a game for debut. Let’s cut him some slack and judge at the end of the season.

But City were vastly superior and let’s face it united did not deserve the chance to be in the game. In fact we should have gone on and scored 2/3 more.

United were second to every ball and we just pressed chassed and harried them into submission.

Mourinho’s selection was rubbish! So the tactile “Special one” is a load of rubbish as it stands.

With Sergio Aguero out for 3 games after his “elbow” Kelechi Iheanacho came in and did a great job also netting his 9th goal in 13 shots on target in the Premier League.

You could since Guardiola wanted to flex his tactical muscles by bringing of Kelechi and bring on Fernando to sure up our midfield and with our attackers being required to do more running as United pressed for an equaliser. The City team itself ran so much more than united with a total of 74.3 miles compared to United 69.1 miles.

Sane was introduced in the second half and looked lively although I think he needs the link up of a striker to get the best out of him. He looked great giving neat one twos and also hit and go attempts to out flank and out speed the tired united defence.

KDB was my key man and also man of the match scoring and assisting a goal. He is such a dangerous player I would hate to play against him.

City had an 81.8% successful pass rate while restricting United to 39.9% which is their lowest since 2003/04 season.
Player Rating

Bravo 5

Big Derby – Joe hart watching with popcorn – Will only properley judge him at the end of the season but shaky this game and gave the goal away by flapping.

Sagna 6

Looked comfortable enough and think he will enjoy this season bombing forward. Thought looked tired against Rashford.

Stones 8

Awesome. Great start to his bright City future. Comfortable in the back line and going forward. We needed him last year.

Otamendi 8

Best game I think i have seen him play. Strong and resilient with perfect tackling.

Kolarov 7

Now a senior figure held the ball well, calm in position of the ball and some great passing.

Fernandinho 7

Love this guy – great energy. But needed Fernando in the 2nd half.

Sterling 6

No cutting edge – curse of the player of the month competition came to haunt him. He needs to raise his game for the big matches.

De Bruyne 10

Outstanding. That’s all.
Silva 8

The instigator – great to see him wearing the armband and being the captain seems to suit him.

Nolito 7

Where has this lad come from? Great energy leading the line and gives 100%

Iheanacho 7

Great reaction finish – big boots to fill in Sergio BUT he is class and the future of the club.

Fernando (for Iheanacho, 53) – 6
Leroy Sane (for Sterling, 60) – 6

Pablo Zabaleta (for De Bruyne, 90)
