The Man City keeper saved the Blues in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final but says that was just a sparring session.
Manchester City and Real Madrid had a “sparring session” at the Etihad Stadium – now Joe Hart is expecting an all-out war next week!
The Blues drew 0-0 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, with Hart the saviour once more in a game of few chances.
But the England stopper said his team will not be taking a backward step as they go toe to toe with the Spanish heavyweights in the Bernabeu.
“It’s a solid start to set up the second leg,” said Hart, who pulled off a fine save with his foot to deny Casemiro and then hurled himself in front of Pepe’s point-blank e
“They defended well and have some really good, quick, experienced defenders, so it was going to take something special for us to go through.
“We didn’t manage it tonight but nor did they and there will be more chances next week – it will be an exciting game.”
The Blues were fairly happy at not conceding an away goal, as one goal in Madrid will give them an edge – but Hart wants his team to sharpen up their defending from corners and free kicks.
“It’s a 0-0 and it’s put us in a good place – we believe we can go over there and get the result we need,” said Hart.
“They didn’t create many chances, but when they did it was off set-pieces, which is disappointing for us. Against a team like Real Madrid you expect them to carve you open and they couldn’t do that.
“I did my job, and we are still in it.”
