The Man City stalwart will be given time to find a solution but Jason Denayer will be recalled from loan in defensive shake-up.
Vincent Kompany will be given every chance to prove he can bounce back from his latest setback.
But in a bid to ensure they do not get caught out again by their skipper’s injury woes, Manchester City aim to get rid of Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis in the summer, and bring back Jason Denayer after his loan spell at Galatasaray.
The Blues are also in the market for another centre back, with Aymeric Laporte top of the list and Everton star John Stones also under consideration.
Kompany’s injury curse struck again last week as he limped off with another calf injury – his 13 in five seasons.
And with Nicolas Otamendi also out with a deadleg, Martin Demichelis had a nightmare derby as the Reds won 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Kompany’s ongoing problems led to claims that the Blues would seek to sell him in the summer, but the club hierarchy are more intent on finding a solution to the problem.
It is possible that a big offer could tempt them, but Kompany is regarded as a cornerstone of the club’s future, and is held in high regard by owner Sheikh Mansour.
